Why the Hills are different.
The temperature swing
Hot, dry summer afternoons and cold winter mornings, often a few degrees cooler than the plain. A system that only handles one end of the year is only doing half the job, so heating and cooling matter equally here.
Bush fire season
Smoke, ash and dry leaf litter load filters and outdoor coils faster than you might expect, and there are rules for roof-mounted evaporative coolers in bush fire prone areas. Servicing before summer is worth doing, and so is mentioning your location when you enquire.
